American magazine: Phu Quoc – the “golden intersection” of nature, culture, and experiences for travel trends in 2026

Phu Quoc has just been named among the Top 10 emerging global travel destinations for 2026 by TravelAwaits, a respected travel magazine in the United States. Instead of familiar destinations, the names on this list are described by TravelAwaits as places that will leave travelers “truly surprised.”

According to TravelAwaits, rather than returning repeatedly to well-known tourist hotspots, choosing trending destinations for 2026 offers travelers the chance to “venture out and explore lands full of unexpected discoveries.” In the list announced by the American magazine, Phu Quoc stands out alongside culturally rich destinations such as Brussels (Belgium), the Czech Republic, and Scotland – affirming the island’s increasingly prominent appeal on the global tourism map.

The prevailing travel trend of 2026 prioritizes pristine nature – an inherent advantage of Phu Quoc. Pearl Island is embraced by crystal-clear turquoise waters, stretches of soft white sand, and skies that glow with vivid colors at sunset. Veteran travel writer Tay Belgeri (with 20 years of travel experience) describes Phu Quoc as a place blessed with “beaches of crystal-clear water and some of the most spectacular sunsets in the world.” World-renowned beaches such as Sao Beach and Kem Beach, together with a collection of international-standard resorts, have helped shape Phu Quoc’s reputation as a new resort paradise in Asia.

Beyond its natural scenery, Phu Quoc also touches visitors through the depth of its local culture. From the lively rhythm of night markets filled with the aroma of grilled seafood drifting in the sea breeze, to lush pepper gardens and century-old fish sauce factories, everything comes together to form a vivid portrait of island life. Visitors come to Phu Quoc not only to observe, but to immerse themselves, to feel, and to connect with the rhythm of coastal living.

Alongside nature and culture is an increasingly compelling ecosystem of tourism, entertainment, and resort experiences that elevates the overall journey. Phu Quoc is the only destination in Vietnam to apply a visa-free policy of up to 30 days for international travelers, offering a significant advantage in accessibility. Complementing this are globally inspired landmarks such as the Kiss Bridge – the unique “non-touching” bridge, Sunset Town with its Mediterranean flair, and a large-scale nighttime seaside entertainment system.

In particular, Phu Quoc is likened to a “sleep less entertainment paradise,” home to spectacular shows such as Kiss of the Sea, a Guinness World Records title holder, and Symphony of the Sea, renowned for its breathtaking extreme sports performances. The island is also the only place in the world to present artistic fireworks twice every night, 365 days a year. Not to be missed is the Hon Thom Cable Car, the world’s longest three-rope cable car, consistently recognized by CNN, Lonely Planet, and numerous international publications as a “must-try” experience.

In 2026, a year defined by journeys and movement, when global travelers prioritize trips that offer healing, inspiration, and ease of access, Phu Quoc brings together all the essential elements to emerge as a top choice. The island is no longer simply a place to “take a break,” but a destination for truly memorable experiences, bearing the distinctive imprint of a place accelerating at exactly the right moment.
