Former VCCI President Vu Tien Loc passed away

Dr. Vu Tien Loc, Chairman of the Vietnam International Arbitration Center, former President of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), and deputy of the 15th National Assembly, passed away on Monday at the age of 64.

Mr. Vu Tien Loc passed away at 5:00 am in Hanoi.

Mr. Vu Tien Loc passed away at 5:00 am in Hanoi. Born in Thai Binh Province, northern Vietnam, in 1960, he held a doctorate in economics and a certificate in advanced political theory. He taught at many universities, both at home and abroad.

At the time of his death, he was also a member of the National Assembly Economic Committee. He served as president of the VCCI for 18 years during the 2003-21 period.

He held several key positions, such as member of the Presidium of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, Vice-President of the National Council on Sustainable Development and Competitiveness Enhancement, Vice-Chairman of the Advisory Council for Administrative Procedure Reform of the Prime Minister, Chairman of the Central Council of Vietnam Business Associations, and chairman of the Vietnam Business Forum Consortium.

He was appreciated for his influence on the National Assembly and the development of the Vietnamese business community.

VCCI has made significant contributions to creating a more favorable business environment for enterprises. Dr. Vu Tien Loc has helped enhance the prestige and influence of VCCI, thereby promoting the development of domestic enterprises.

One of the greatest contributions of Dr. Vu Tien Loc is promoting institutional reform and the business environment in Vietnam. He is a pioneer in proposing important resolutions of the Government, such as Resolution No. 19/NQ-CP and Resolution No. 35/NQ-CP.

Resolution No. 19 has focused on cutting and simplifying administrative procedures and applying information technology to reduce time and costs for businesses, thereby improving the national competitiveness index.

Resolution No. 35 has emphasized developing SMEs, encouraging startups, and protecting businesses’ rights and benefits through reducing legal barriers, financial support, and training programs.

Under the leadership of Dr. Vu Tien Loc, these two resolutions have helped increase enterprises’ confidence in the Government's policies, promote entrepreneurship, and improve the competitiveness of Vietnamese enterprises in the international market.
