On the occasion of Vietnamese Entrepreneurs' Day on October 13, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue will work with VCCI and meet with representatives of the Vietnamese entrepreneur community on October 7, 2021 at VCCI’s headquarters, Hanoi.

National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue will work with VCCI and meet representatives of the Vietnamese entrepreneur community on the afternoon of October 7, 2021 at VCCI's headoffice.

This is the great concern and encouragement of the leaders of the Party and State for the Vietnamese businessmen and business commnunity amid COVID-19 pandemic.

This activity of National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue also has a special significance when reviewing 10 years of implementation of Resolution 09/NQ-TW dated December 9, 2011 of the Politburo on building and promoting the role of Vietnamese businessmen in the period of accelerating industrialization, modernization and international integration, on the occasion of the 76th anniversary of Uncle Ho's letter to the Vietnamese industry and trade and the 17th anniversary of Vietnamese Entrepreneurs' Day.

17 years ago, at the proposal of VCCI, Prime Minister Phan Van Khai signed Decision No. 990/QD-TTg dated September 20, 2004 on Vietnam Entrepreneurs’ Day. Accordingly, to promote the role and tradition of the Vietnamese entrepreneur community and to encourage social classes to help the Vietnam business and entrepreneurs community develop stronger so as to further step up industrialization and modernization of the country, October 13 every year has been taken as "Vietnamese Entrepreneurs’s Day ".

October 13 has special historical significance for the Vietnam entrepreneur community because on October 13, 1945, President Ho Chi Minh wrote a letter to the Vietnamese industry and trade, in which a passage of this letter stated: "… While other circles nationwide worked hard to gain complete independence of the country, the industry and trade circle had to build a stable and prosperous economy. The government, the people, and I will wholeheartedly help the merchants in this process. National work and housework always go hand in hand. A prosperous national economy also means the prosperous business of entrepreneurs …”.

On December 9, 2011, Politburo issued Resolution 09-NQ-TW on building and promoting the role of Vietnamese businessmen in the period of accelerating industrialization, modernization, and international integration. The Resolution affirms: "The entrepreneur community plays an important role in the cause of industrialization and modernization of the country". "Building a powerful entrepreneurs community is the responsibility of the Party, the whole political system and each business and entrepreneur itself”. At the same time, the Resolution also states the objective: “Building a powerful entrepreneurs community with national spirit, political enlightenment, business culture, high social responsibility to lead and manage businesses with the best performance, high competitiveness, close linkage, active participation in domestic and global production chains”.

VCCI is a national representative of the Vietnamese entrepreneur and business community, established under Decision No. 58-CP dated April 27, 1963 by Prime Minister Pham Van Dong. Over the past 58 years, in any circumstances, VCCI has always made great contributions to the development of the economy, and Vietnam entrepreneur and business community.

In recent years, VCCI has performed a huge amount of works to support the development of the business community and build a business environment in Vietnam, such as directly participating in drafting and commenting on about 150 draft legal documents, hosting more than 500 conferences and seminars on law-making; organizing more than 1,500 training courses for over 80,000 enterprises; receiving and arranging work programs for over 350 delegations with over 20,000 turns of foreign businessmen entering Vietnam; organizing nearly 150 delegations with over 7,000 turns of Vietnamese enterprises to survey the foreign markets; holding nearly 600 seminars, workshops, business meetings with the participation of over 80,000 enterprises…

VCCI's online interactive platform

The COVID-19 pandemic has broken out all over the world and in Vietnam, VCCI has focused all resources on supporting businesses to overcome this crisis. On September 17, 2021, VCCI established the Business Cooperation Council in response to COVID-19 to connect state agencies, businesses, and business associations together in the fight against COVID-19. The Council has also launched a website: https://covid19.vcci.vn and put into operation an online interactive platform (Workplace) operating around the clock so that businesses can promptly reflect on difficulties as well as propose recommendations to central and local authorities in response to COVID-19. Through this platform, the Council will provide advice and guidance to businesses, while allowing them to share information, experiences, and solutions to cope with the impacts of the COVID-19 epidemic. This platform will act as a bridge for businesses to trade and support each other during the pandemic.

The entrepreneur community hopes to convey to the Party and State its determination to overcome COVID-19 crisis and join hands to bring the country's economy back up, as a solid foundation for victory on epidemic control and prevention. This also affirms the efforts of the Party, State, Government, and National Assembly in improving the business and investment environment so that the entrepreneur and business community has a strong belief in Vietnam's economic prospects and many breakthroughs in the near future.
