Reboot Retreats travel trend, which destinations in Vietnam are most suitable?

A refreshing wellness travel trend is beginning to take hold in Southeast Asian countries, encouraging people to step away from daily distractions and reconnect with themselves.

Reboot Retreats are a trend poised to dominate not only in 2024 but beyond. It is not just about taking a break but about learning new practices and rituals to incorporate into everyday life, according to Varun Grover, Country Head of Booking.com for Vietnam.

He said, in particular, that the new trend also allows busy Asian parents to temporarily put aside the responsibilities and burdens of children, regenerate energy and 'heal' themselves.

Diversified types of ‘healing tourism’

Life grows busier each year, making personal time more essential than ever. In this fast-paced world, travelers seek moments to reconnect with their true selves. This quest for deeper fulfillment has sparked a new travel trend focused on personal well-being and rejuvenation.

According to the survey released on July 17 by Booking.com, there are three most popular types of Reboot Retreats travel trend in Vietnam.

The leading travel type is ‘Sleep Tourism’ or Holidays Focused on Sleep, with 67% of respondents expressing interest in sleep -focused holidays for 2024.

This is followed by 'Solo Holidays for Parents', with 66% of Asia-Pacific parents looking for solo holidays to recharge their batteries.

The last trend is Romantic Getaways for Singles, with some 62% of Vietnamese travelers taking time out to find a new partner or lover. On the other hand, 38% will travel to heal from a break-up.

Destinations in Vietnam for Reboot Retreats travel

Varun Grover suggested travelers opt for ideal destinations for ‘reboot retreats’ in Vietnam, including Hoi An, Da Lat, Phu Quoc, Ninh Binh, and Moc Chau.

The enchanting ancient town of Hoi An, with its vibrant lanterns and colorful architecture, offers a unique blend of culture and wellness.

The tiny town in the central region of Vietnam offers several wellness retreats focused on mindfulness and relaxation -  take part in sunrise yoga sessions overlooking the Thu Bon River, experience a spa treatment inspired by traditional Vietnamese medicine or learn the art of the tea ceremony.

Hoi An Ancient Town is an exceptionally well-preserved example of a Southeast Asian trading port from the 15th to 19th centuries. Its buildings and street plan reflect the combined influences of both locals and foreigners to create this unique heritage site.

The town comprises a well-preserved complex of 1,107 timber-framed buildings with brick or wooden walls, architectural monuments, commercial and domestic vernacular structures, an open market and a ferry quay, as well as religious buildings such as pagodas and family cult houses.

In recent years, Hoi An has been honored many times by TravelLeisure, with titles such as ‘Top 15 Cities in Asia in 2021’ “The World's Best City in 2019”, and “Top 10 Asian Cities in 2018”, among others.

It is also considered one of the most wallet-friendly destinations for travelers, according to the UK Post Office's Holiday Money Report 2021.

Known for its cool climate and scenic beauty, the city of Da Lat in the central highlands of Vietnam is the perfect setting for a restorative yoga practice or mindful meditation session. For a refreshing escape from the tropical heat, indulge in therapeutic spa treatments using locally sourced ingredients such as coffee and artichoke, or explore the beautiful countryside by bike.

Phu Quoc or Pearl Island of the southern province of Kien Giang, is a paradise for nature lovers and wellness seekers. From quiet beaches to wellness resorts offering personalized wellness programs, yoga, meditation, and detoxifying spa treatments with breathtaking ocean views, Phu Quoc is perfect for those seeking a revitalizing break.

With its rural, agrarian lifestyle, Ninh Binh province in northern Vietnam attracts travelers looking to simplify their lives and reconnect with nature. Its karst landscapes, tranquil waterways and traditional villages provide an ideal backdrop for a wellness journey.  Immerse yourself in the peaceful moments of each waking moment with a warm cup of morning coffee, find peace in meditation activities or yoga under the cool shade of trees, and then relax with traditional massages.

Nestled among majestic mountains and breathtaking tea plantations, the Moc Chau Plateau in the northern province of Son La offers the chance to truly immerse yourself in the local culture and embrace a slower pace of life. From morning yoga sessions to learning about traditional herbal remedies, from exploring hidden waterfalls to breathing in the Crips mountain air, Moc Chau offers a natural detox for the mind, body and soul.

“From charming towns to breathtaking landscapes finding your inner zen with a refreshing and rejuvenating travel experience,” said Varun Grover.
