Sun Group’s resort in Da Nang continues to be honored among the “best in Vietnam”

Recently, the prestigious travel magazine DestinAsian announced the winners of the 19th Reader’s Choice Awards – an annual award voted by readers. InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort was ranked second in the list of the 10 best resorts in Vietnam, rising one place from its third-place position in 2025.

Asia’s leading travel magazine DestinAsian has just announced the winners of the 19th Reader’s Choice Awards – an annual award voted by readers. The ranking honors outstanding destinations, hotels, and travel services across the region, based on votes from thousands of international readers, with criteria centered on service quality, accommodation experiences, and guest satisfaction.

Luxurious resort spaces at InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort blend harmoniously with the forest and sea landscapes of the Son Tra Peninsula

In the Best Resort category, InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort was named second among the 10 best resorts in Vietnam, moving up compared with last year. The voting results further affirm the appeal of the resort on the Son Tra Peninsula – a destination many travelers consider a dream retreat thanks to its distinctive architecture, refined service, and exceptional culinary experiences.

Located on the Son Tra Peninsula, InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort is often described as a “hidden gem” nestled within pristine tropical forest, overlooking the tranquil Bai Bac Bay. Backed by forested hillsides and surrounded by the distinctive coastal ecosystem of Son Tra, the resort offers a rare experience where nature and luxury hospitality come together. During their stay, guests may even encounter the red-shanked douc langur – a rare species listed in Vietnam’s Red Book and often referred to as the “queen of primates,” adding to the destination’s unique character on the map of luxury resorts in Vietnam.

One of the defining features of InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort is its remarkable architecture designed by “design wizard” Bill Bensley. The project embraces an Indochine spirit, combining Vietnamese cultural elements such as tiled roofs, wooden corridors, and giant Hoi An lanterns to create a setting that is both grand and rich in local identity. All 201 rooms and villas are oriented toward the sea, opening sweeping views of the emerald bay and the forested mountains of Son Tra, turning every corner of the resort into a striking visual moment set against nature.

Beyond its architecture, InterContinental Danang is also renowned for its exceptional culinary experiences. La Maison 1888 offers French fine dining under the direction of chef Christian Le Squer – the three-Michelin-star chef behind Le Cinq in Paris. Meanwhile, Citron serves Vietnamese cuisine in a distinctive setting with giant inverted “non la” – conical hats overlooking the sea. Guests can also continue their evening at Buffalo Bar or Long Bar, where cocktails are served in spaces inspired by the imperial architecture of Hue.

After a day exploring the natural beauty of Son Tra, many guests choose to unwind at Mi Sol Spa. The wellness space is known for its treatments that combine health therapies with sound healing, offering a sense of balance and tranquility amid the surrounding mountains and sea.

This is not the first time InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort has impressed international media. Over many consecutive years, the resort has frequently appeared in prestigious global rankings. Notably, the “Oscars of the travel industry” – the World Travel Awards – has repeatedly honored InterContinental Danang with titles such as: World’s Leading Luxury Resort for three consecutive years (2014–2017); Asia’s Leading Luxury Resort (2023–2025); and World’s Leading Green Resort in 2025. From 2024 to 2025, the resort also continued to appear on numerous prestigious lists including the Travel Leisure Luxury Awards, the Condé Nast Traveler Reader’s Choice Awards, and Tatler Asia.

In the culinary field, La Maison 1888 holds one Michelin star for two consecutive years and has received the Best of Award of Excellence from Wine Spectator for many years, affirming its status as one of Vietnam’s leading fine dining destinations. The long list of recognitions spanning hotel, spa, cuisine, and wedding services reflects the remarkable achievements of InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort on the map of luxury hospitality in the region and the world.
