Green logistics: A competitive advantage for Vietnamese businesses to move forward
This is the sharing by VCCI President Pham Tan Cong at the Green Logistics Forum – Momentum amidst volatility and connection with FIATA World Congress 2025.

The Green Logistics Forum – Momentum amidst volatility and connection with FIATA World Congress 2025, was organised by the Vietnam Logistics Business Association (VLA) in partnership with Business Forum Magazine on the afternoon of July 11, 2025
Speaking at the event, which was organised by the Vietnam Logistics Business Association (VLA) in partnership with Business Forum Magazine on the afternoon of July 11, 2025, VCCI President Pham Tan Cong stated that green growth and sustainable development are unavoidable under the current circumstances. The National Strategy on Green Growth for 2021–2030, with a view to 2050, has set the goal of "greening" economic sectors, fostering economic restructuring connected with the innovation of sustainable growth models in terms of the environment and social fairness. "Developing green logistics" is one of the tasks assigned to relevant ministries and sectors under this strategy.
"To implement this Strategy, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 882/QD-TTg approving the National Action Plan on Green Growth for the 2021-2030 period, in which logistics services are one of the 18 key subjects of the Plan," according to the VCCI President.
According to a poll conducted by the Vietnam Business Council for Sustainable Development, one of the themes that the worldwide business community is paying close attention to and prioritising is the transformation of supply and value chains towards greater sustainability. As a result, green supply chain management is inextricably tied to the management of its components, which include green design, green production, green operations, green procurement, green logistics, waste management, and so on.
According to VCCI President, when all of those links are "green," firms will be able to improve their operational capacity while also establishing a green, sustainable environment, giving them a competitive advantage and boosting their ability to adapt, withstand, and recover from market fluctuations.
The VCCI's Corporate Sustainability Index (CSI) is also an excellent tool for businesses to review their sustainable development, self-assess their overall "health," as well as the impacts of their activities, and then develop appropriate action plans to promote strengths while improving the work of preparing and reporting information, thereby attracting investment more effectively and sustainably.

According to the requirements of the global supply chain mentioned above, developing green logistics is no longer a trend, but is gradually becoming an unavoidable requirement for activities spanning the stages of raw material procurement, production, distribution, delivery, waste treatment, and the entire product life cycle. The Government's Resolution No. 163/NQ-CP on promoting the synchronised implementation of essential tasks and solutions to promote competitiveness and expand Vietnam's logistics services also mentioned "logistics development associated with sustainable supply chains".
"The proposal of the Vietnam Logistics Business Association (VLA) and Business Forum Magazine to organise the Green Logistics Forum - Momentum amidst volatility and connection with FIATA World Congress 2025 today is an important premise towards the largest event in the global logistics industry - FIATA World Congress 2025 with the theme 'Green and Resilient Logistics", VCCI President noticed.

The FIATA World Congress 2025 will draw over 1,200 participants from 150 countries, providing an excellent chance for Vietnam to demonstrate its capability, vision, and commitment to defining the future of sustainable logistics.
Mr. Dao Trong Khoa, Chairman of the Vietnam Logistics Services Association (VLA), expressed delight that the FIATA World Congress 2025 had significant support from the government, particularly Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, as well as ministries, sectors, and the business community.
