Napas, Mastercard and Payoo sponsor free cancer screenings and HPV tests to vulnerable women

The National Payment Corporation of Vietnam (NAPAS), Mastercard, and Payoo (Vietnam Payment Intermediary) today announce their joint social welfare initiative

Napas, Mastercard and Payoo sponsor free cancer screenings and HPV tests to vulnerable women

Building on last year’s success, which provided free cancer screenings to over 2,000 women and financial support for 200 high-risk patients, this year’s campaign will continue to deliver free cancer screenings to 2,010 disadvantaged women across Vietnam in celebration of the 95th anniversary of Vietnamese Women’s Day on October 20, 2025.

Cancer is becoming a critical health issue among women in Vietnam, with the most common cancers being breast, cervical, ovarian, and thyroid cancer. Alarmingly, 50–80% of patients are diagnosed at late stages, when treatment is less effective. Cervical cancer, closely linked to HPV, is of particular concern, as nearly 85% of people will get an HPV infection in their lifetime. These figures highlight the urgent need for early screening, significantly improving treatment outcomes and empowering women to actively protect their health.

First launched in 2023 as “Tap to Pay, Send a Thousand Love” and renamed in 2024 to “Tap to Share, Give Hope”, the initiative has consistently provided practical, scientific, and community-focused healthcare support to women. In the 3rd year, the program has upgraded its action more practically by replacing thyroid screening with HPV testing, a crucial method for early detection of cervical cancer.

The program also broadens its reach to include informal workers and migrant women currently living and working in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. These include women aged 30-50 working as domestic helpers, street vendors, scrap collectors, industrial workers, and especially single mothers raising young children. Although at high risk for various cancers, many of these women rarely prioritize their own health. Through the free screening activities, they can acknowledge their health situation and take additional tests if needed.

To carry out the campaign, NAPAS, Mastercard, and Payoo continue to turn every card transaction and every small step into momentum for building a sustainable health journey for Vietnamese women. Accordingly, for every NAPAS or Mastercard contactless transaction at Payoo-enabled merchants, VND 2,010 will be contributed; for each kilometer completed in the virtual “Healthy Miles Healthy Life” run, an additional VND 2,010 will be donated; and for the on-site run organized by the program, each kilometer will correspond to VND 20,100. All contributions will go toward free cancer and HPV screenings, creating more opportunities for disadvantaged women to access essential healthcare services.

The campaign also introduces a series of community activities across digital and physical platforms. This includes the online talk show “Early Cancer Screening: A Proactive Journey for Health”, which leverages the trusted voices of medical experts, a psychologist, and a beneficiary to share knowledge on early detections, inspire healthier habits and regular check-ups. Complementing this is the “Healthy Miles Healthy Life” sports activity, a dynamic initiative combining virtual running with on-site race at universities in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. This effort encourages young people to embrace a healthy lifestyle while fostering a spirit of community responsibility toward vulnerable women.

Mr. Nguyen Dang Hung, Deputy General Director of NAPAS, shared: “As the provider of the national retail payment infrastructure, NAPAS has always placed great importance on corporate social responsibility, striving to spread humanistic values through every action. With each contactless transaction, we hope to join hands with our partners to bring practical and meaningful contributions to the community, especially to vulnerable groups who need compassion and renewed hope. We believe that the connection from payments to hearts will create positive changes, fostering a healthier, more caring, and more sustainable society.”

“‘Doing Well by Doing Good’ remains Mastercard’s philosophy in how it cares for the world we live in – making a positive impact to the people and communities. Mastercard is honored to continue this meaningful initiative with NAPAS and Payoo to raise awareness of the importance of early cancer detection and provide essential screening and HPV tests – at no cost – to thousands of underprivileged women. This initiative not only gives women better opportunities to live life to the fullest and unlock their potential, but also allows cardholders to contribute and make long lasting impact on the more vulnerable segments of society,” said Mr. Sharad Jain, Country Manager for Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos, Mastercard.

Mr. Ngo Trung Linh, CEO of VietUnion (Payoo), emphasized: “At Payoo, we consider the mission of spreading humanistic values an integral part of our growth strategy. We are proud to stand alongside NAPAS and Mastercard not only in advancing Vietnam’s digital society and digital economy, but also in pioneering a bridge where every everyday transaction across our payment network contributes to writing the next chapter of healthier, happier lives for Vietnamese women.”

"Tap to Share, Give Hope" looks forward to continued support from the public, the business community, and social organizations, including political social bodies, partner hospitals as well as universities, partner organizations, banks, retailers, and other collaborators. Together, we can create meaningful change, improve the quality of life for thousands of disadvantaged women, and spread a spirit of compassion and kindness throughout the community.
