Press accompanies businesses to promote private sector development
The workshop “Press accompanies businesses to promote private sector development" was organized by Business Forum Magazine on the morning of July 4, 2025, in Ho Chi Minh City, under the guidance of the VCCI.

According to statistics, by early 2025, Vietnam will have 940,000 private sector firms in operation, as well as over 5 million business households. The private economic sector now accounts for about half of GDP, more than 30% of total state budget revenue, and employs approximately 85% of the country's workers. The private sector contributes 35% of overall import turnover and 25% of total export turnover in the country.
The said statistics show that, given its enormous potential, the private sector has played a critical role in promoting economic growth, improving labour productivity and national competitiveness, providing livelihoods for the majority of people, contributing to hunger eradication and poverty reduction, and improving social life.
Currently, Vietnamese private sector firms are active in the majority of the economy's core sectors, including manufacturing and processing, construction, car production and assembly, transportation, aviation, finance and banking, real estate, information technology, and agriculture. Vingroup, Sun Group, Truong Hai (Thaco), Masan, FPT, Vinamilk, BRG, T&T Group, Vietjet, TH... are examples of powerful private sector brands and large-scale private firms that contribute significantly to the country's socioeconomic development.

However, private sector firms, particularly SMEs, continue to face numerous challenges in terms of finance, market, regulation, and technology. Despite its size, the private sector has poor quality. In terms of sustainable development, there are still numerous issues concerning social and environmental responsibilities.
In that context, the Politburo published Resolution 68 NQ/TW on private sector growth, which outlined innovative methods for reaching the aim of 2 million firms by 2030. Resolution 68/NQ-TW was issued to revitalise the private economic sector.
VCCI Vice President Vo Tan Thanh stated that the workshop “Press accompanies businesses to promote private sector development" took place in a special context. The year 2025 has been designated as the year of acceleration and breakthrough, building momentum to implement the socioeconomic development goals for the period 2025-2030. In particular, Vietnam has recently merged several provinces and cities, streamlined the apparatus, and increased the effectiveness of the political system in accordance with the Central Executive Committee's Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW.

Journalist Tran Trong Dung, Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, stated that press agencies should work with other agencies under the Ho Chi Minh City VCCI Branch to proactively organise specialised articles, with a focus on digital platforms and modern journalism practices. VCCI and its affiliated units shall engage with all levels of the Vietnam Journalists Association and press agencies to organise festivals, events, seminars, workshops, field trips and trade promotion both domestically and internationally.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Lenh, Deputy Director of the State Bank of Vietnam's Region 2 Branch, stated that practical lessons have demonstrated that policy organisation and implementation, information and propaganda about policies, monitoring, understanding the situation and implementation results, policy feedback, and so on have all played a critical role in effectively bringing policies to life. In this process, the press has become an efficient way for carrying out policy communication efforts, thereby helping the successful implementation of the Party's major policies.
