Strength of great national unity

Participating in the parade at the ceremony marking the 80th Anniversary of the August Revolution and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam (A80) at Ba Dinh Square on September 2 will be 13 mass blocs, including the bloc of overseas Vietnamese. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this will be the first time that an overseas Vietnamese bloc has joined the parade at the anniversary ceremony.

Overseas Vietnamese bloc joins the national festival

At the A80 celebration, 13 mass blocs representing ethnic groups, religions, workers, intellectuals, overseas Vietnamese, entrepreneurs, youth, women, veterans, the elderly, and prestigious community figures will join the parade, demonstrating the spirit of great national unity of the Vietnamese people. Among them, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs organised a delegation of exemplary overseas Vietnamese to attend, with 50 participants joining the parade in this grand national festival.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang said: “We visited the place where the overseas Vietnamese are rehearsing for their participation in the parade. They also shared that they had to cope with time zone changes and weather differences, but immersed in the jubilant atmosphere of celebrating National Day, they forgot all fatigue. They consider this both an honour and pride, as well as a responsibility, to be selected to participate in this significant national event.” Emphasising the development and contributions of the overseas Vietnamese community over the past 80 years with remarkable milestones, Le Thi Thu Hang affirmed: “Our compatriots abroad are united, closely bonded with each other and increasingly attached to the homeland.”

Returning to Ha Noi from Paris (France) to prepare for rehearsals for A80, writer and translator Le Thi Hieu (Hieu Constant) expressed emotions filled with pride and deep sentiment at witnessing the nation resplendent with flags and flowers. As a representative of more than six million overseas Vietnamese around the world attending this special historic event of the nation, despite long days of rehearsals and joint training, Hieu remains full of energy.

Enthusiastically learning formations while capturing unforgettable moments, she affirmed: “Although coming from different ages, occupations, and countries, we overseas Vietnamese are preparing with the highest spirit and determination.” Beloved for more than 50 translated works and numerous novels, including the remarkable memoir “Overseas Vietnamese and Truong Sa”, writer Hieu Constant has also served as a “bridge” between French literature and Vietnamese readers, and vice versa. For her, these emotions endure as a source of pride to share at home and as inspiration for future creative works.

Consolidating great national unity

The participation of a broad representation of the people is testimony to the strength of national unity, consolidated by the consistent and enduring policies of the Party and the State. Since 2004, Resolution No. 36-NQ/TW of the Politburo on overseas Vietnamese affairs has been a document of great significance, profoundly reflecting the Party’s innovative thinking. The guiding principles of the Party and the State have been translated into numerous policies and laws concerning overseas Vietnamese, thereby enhancing awareness and societal attention on their role in the cause of great national unity, mobilising the collective strength of the nation for the aspiration of building and developing the country.

Alongside the bloc of overseas Vietnamese, the bloc of great national unity at the 80th Anniversary Ceremony of the August Revolution and National Day also includes mass blocs representing organisations under the Viet Nam Fatherland Front (VFF). Representing the younger generation in the parade, Nguyen Phuong Anh, a student of the Academy of Finance, said that participating in the bloc at this significant national event is not only a great honour but also an opportunity to express her deep gratitude for the nation’s history. Therefore, she always strives in rehearsals with the highest spirit and determination, ready for the great day of the nation. “I, along with my fellow participants in the bloc, feel truly happy and proud, without any sense of fatigue,” Nguyen Phuong Anh said.

At the same time, representing veterans of Phu Dien Ward, Ha Noi, participating in the VFF parade bloc, Vu Van Quang and his comrades have made every effort to overcome themselves, working together in unity and mutual support during rehearsals, with the highest determination to successfully complete the entrusted task on the great national day, thereby spreading the image of “Uncle Ho’s Soldiers” in peacetime.

At a meeting with the VFF parade bloc, Vice President of the Central Committee of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Ha Thi Nga assessed: “The ceremony marking the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day is a special event, taking place as our country has just carried out a revolution in streamlining, restructuring, and organising the apparatus and implementing the two-tier local government model. Representing the strength of the entire nation and all social strata, this bloc carries extremely important significance, receiving the close attention and guidance of the Party, State, and the Viet Nam Fatherland Front.”

These days, Vietnamese people at home and abroad are the connecting thread in the great solidarity bloc, further consolidating the strength of the entire nation.
