In his opening remarks, Hoang Quang Phong, Vice Chairman of the Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), emphasised that Viet Nam reaffirms its commitment to carbon neutrality by 2050, which is not just a political declaration but has been concretised through many breakthrough legal policies.
Delegates at the forum agreed that in the context of worldwide green globalisation, energy transition is no longer an option but a prerequisite for enterprises to maintain their markets, protect their brands, and stabilise production.
However, technical infrastructure for developing rooftop solar in industrial parks (IPs) is still lagging in many industrial zones, lacking the metering equipment and grid readiness needed to accommodate distributed solar systems. Moreover, awareness and technical expertise among businesses remain limited.
Therefore, participants at the forum stressed the need to establish a unified technical standard system and detailed guidelines so enterprises can deploy rooftop solar power.
Launching a green investment guarantee fund to support preferential credit access is also necessary, especially for small and medium-sized enterprises in industrial parks, which form a large group but have limited capacity.
In the long term, developing renewable energy not only helps enterprises be self-reliant in electricity supply and stabilise costs but is also an essential strategy for Viet Nam to ensure energy security and reduce dependence on fossil fuels, especially during the 2025-2030 period when GDP growth targets reach 8-10% per year.
