Great national unity as a key driver for Viet Nam's growth in the new era

Ms. Ha Thi Nga, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) and central mass organisations, Vice President and Secretary General of the VFF stated at the ongoing 14th National Party Congress on January 21 morning that harnessing the strength of the great national unity is essential for driving the Vietnam's development in the new era.

Ms. Ha Thi Nga emphasized in her speech during a debate of the Congress's draft documents that throughout its leadership of the revolution, the Party has continuously inherited and creatively applied Ho Chi Minh's ideas about the great national solidarity, upheld the principle "the people are the root," maintained close ties with the people, and fostered consensus across social classes, ethnic groups, religions, and Vietnamese communities abroad, thereby building the great national unity with shared will and action.

According to Ms. Nga, the Party and State's coordinated policies over the past ten years have established a strong foundation for strengthening the great national solidarity, expanding social consensus, bolstering public confidence in the Party and State, and encouraging solidarity and community responsibility for national development.

She pointed out that under the Party's leadership, the VFF has specifically implemented reforms in its operations while successfully executing patriotic emulation movements and large-scale campaigns with a significant and far-reaching impact, strengthening national solidarity and the VFF's fundamental role.

"Harnessing the strength of the great national solidarity bloc has become a strategic factor and key driver for the nation to overcome obstacles, seize opportunities, and pursue sustainable development as we enter a new era of knowledge, innovation, digital transformation, and deep international integration", said Ms. Ha Thi Nga.

The VFF suggested that the Party and State make significant advancements in awareness, policies, processes, and execution in order to fully capitalize on this strength and transform the spirit of solidarity into tangible and successful activities. It also demanded increased responsibility to the public at all levels of government and more robust democratic and open procedures to guarantee real-world public involvement, comment, and oversight. Ms. Ha Thi Nga pointed out that by doing this, the strong sense of national unity may serve as a vital lever to propel the country's resilience in the face of international uncertainty and sustainable development.

In order to carry out the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress, the VFF intends to enhance its function as a voluntary organization of political and social organizations, as well as notable people from all socioeconomic classes, ethnic groups, religions, and Vietnamese communities abroad.

She stated that the VFF and its member organizations would vigorously and thoroughly reinvent their operations; give livelihoods, democracy, and civil rights first priority; improve the caliber of their workforce; and encourage social monitoring and feedback systems.

Ms. Nga added that the front should focus on improving people-to-people diplomacy to promote solidarity and spread the nation's image, contributing to peace and cooperation for sustainable development. The VFF-led movements and campaigns must set clear goals, responsibilities, and deadlines, produce measurable outcomes, and concentrate on practical models serving the community.

She also called for the institutionalization of the idea that "People know, people discuss, people do, people inspect, people supervise, and people benefit," emphasizing the significance of advancing democracy and the people's right to mastery.

The VFF must work as a genuine conduit between the Party, the State, and the populace, converting sensible policies into appropriate actions and successful outcomes. She continued, "It should continue to be a key force in inspiring the public's aspirations and spirit of innovation and creativity while mobilizing the synergy of workers, farmers, youth, women, intellectuals, religious communities, and OVs to contribute to national development."
