Mr. Pham Gia Tuc appointed as Deputy Prime Minister

Continuing the agenda of the First Session of the 16th National Assembly, the National Assembly approved the appointment of Deputy Prime Ministers, Ministers, and other members of the Government for the 2026-2031 term.

Mr. Pham Gia Tuc was approved as Deputy Prime Minister for the term 2026-2031 at the April 8th session of the First Session of the 16th National Assembly.

Accordingly, Mr. Pham Gia Tuc - Member of the Politburo of the 14th Party Congress, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chief of the Central Party Office, and Member of the 16th National Assembly—has been approved for appointment as Deputy Prime Minister for the term 2026-2031.

In the Resolution approving the appointment of Deputy Prime Ministers, Ministers, and other members of the Government, Mr. Pham Gia Tuc is one of six individuals approved by the National Assembly to assume the position of Deputy Prime Minister.

Mr. Pham Gia Tuc was born in 1965 in Nam Dinh (now Ninh Binh province). He holds a master's degree in public administration and a bachelor's degree in economics.

He previously served as Vice President of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), Deputy Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee, and Deputy Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission.

In April 2021, he was assigned and appointed by the Politburo to participate in the Executive Committee, the Standing Committee, and to hold the position of Secretary of the Nam Dinh Provincial Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term.

In November 2024, he was appointed as Deputy Chief of the Central Party Office. In August 2025, he was appointed as Chief of the Central Party Office.

On January 23, 2026, at the 14th Central Committee meeting, he was elected a member of the Politburo of the 14th Central Committee.

At the First Session of the 16th National Assembly, he was elected to the position of Deputy Prime Minister for the term 2026-2031.

SUMMARY OF THE WORKING PROCESS

Before March 2014: Vice President of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI).

March 2014 - September 2015: The Politburo rotated and transferred comrades to participate in the Executive Committee, Standing Committee and hold the position of Deputy Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee for the 2010-2015 term.

September 2015 - December 2017: Deputy Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee for the 2015-2020 term.

December 2017: Secretariat transfers and appoints Deputy Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission.

June 2020: Secretary of the Party Committee of the Central Internal Affairs Commission agency, term 2020-2025.

January 2021: At the 13th National Congress of the Party, elected as a member of the Party Central Committee.

April 26, 2021: The Politburo transferred, assigned, and appointed to participate in the Executive Committee, Standing Committee and hold the position of Secretary of Nam Dinh Provincial Party Committee term XX, term 2020-2025.

November 12, 2024: The Politburo transfers, assigns, and appoints Deputy Chief of the Party Central Committee Office.

August 2025: Politburo appoints Chief of Office of the Party Central Committee.

January 22, 2026: At the 14th National Party Congress, elected as a member of the 14th Party Central Committee.

January 23, 2026: At the first Conference of the 14th Party Central Committee, elected to the Politburo.

January 30, 2026: Assigned to participate in the Secretariat of the 14th Party Central Committee (according to Decision No. 05-QDNS/TW).

March 2026: National Assembly Deputy of the 16th term.

April 8, 2026: At the First Session, the 16th National Assembly approved the appointment to hold the position of Deputy Prime Minister for the term 2026-2031.
