On April 22, at the Dolce by Wyndham Hotel, a high-ranking delegation from Inhambane and Gaza provinces (Mozambique), led by Governor Francisco Manuel Pegula, held an important working meeting with the Vietnamese business community to explore investment cooperation opportunities in the promising African nation. Organized by Manfusi Group, the event marked a new step in bilateral economic and trade relations, as Mozambique boosts its efforts to attract foreign investment.

Attending the event were Mr. Fansisco Manuel Peguda, Governor of Inhambane province and Madam Margarida Sebastiao Mapandzene Chongo, Governor of Gaza province. On the Vietnamese side, Mr. Pham Dinh Vu, representative of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), and Vietnamese businesses active in key fields like construction, agriculture, aquaculture, energy and logistics, were also present to discuss and explore investment cooperation opportunities in Mozambique.

Speaking at the meeting, Vu said: “Vietnam and Mozambique have had long-standing friendly cooperative ties, especially in telecommunications, agriculture and education. In recent years, Mozambique has increasingly emerged as an attractive investment destination with great potential in resources, land and developing markets.”

He emphasized that, bridging Vietnamese and Mozambique business communities, VCCI is always ready to support Vietnamese businesses to access, study and expand investment in Mozambique, and hopes that local authorities of Mozambique, especially Inhambane and Gaza provinces, will have favorable policies, laws and infrastructure for Vietnamese businesses to confidently make long-term cooperation.

Governor Fansisco Manuel Peguda of Inhambane province delivered a passionate speech, expressing the goodwill and determination of the provinces in attracting foreign investment, especially from Vietnam. He affirmed: “Inhambane and Gaza provinces have great potential, with fertile land, favorable climate for agriculture and aquaculture, along with great potential for mining, renewable energy development and eco-tourism. Besides, these localities need investors in transport infrastructure, ports, and warehouses.”

The meeting brought together many companies including Manfusi Group, Lam Huy Group and DHL Group. Attending companies expressed interest in cultivation, agricultural processing, infrastructure construction, logistics and renewable energy in Mozambique.

Mr. Nguyen Tien Dat, President of Manfusi Group, said "Mozambique is a new but potential market strategically located in Southeast Africa, bordered by the Indian Ocean. This can become a gateway to bring Vietnamese products to African and Latin American markets. However, to effectively invest in the country, we hope to have more information support programs, legal connections and logistics from the two governments.”

The open discussion between the Mozambique delegation and Vietnamese businesses was enthusiastic. Attending businesses raised many questions about investment incentives, land ownership and legal issues when they register a business in Mozambique, as well as details about infrastructure, human resources and market potential in Gaza Province.

In the closing session, Fansisco Manuel Peguda, Governor of Inhambane Province, pledged that Inhambane and Gaza provinces will provide maximum support to Vietnamese businesses in surveying, registering for investment and implementing projects. He emphasized: “We are ready to support Vietnamese businesses, improve the investment environment and reduce procedural barriers.”
