On the evening of November 2, Mr. Pham Tan Cong, President of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), had an online meeting with Mr. Charles Freeman, Senior Vice President for Asia, Amcham.

At the meeting, VCCI President said that Vietnam-US relations have developed strongly in many fields, especially bilateral trade. “With the right development orientation, the economic and trade cooperation between the two countries will have great room to maintain a stable growth momentum in the coming time”, VCCI President emphasized.

VCCI President said that VCCI would continue to accompany Amcham in many fields and create favorable conditions for businesses of the two countries to find cooperation opportunities.

VCCI President called on US businesses to increase orders with Vietnam ones, especially for consumer products and agricultural products to prepare for the year-end holidays to avoid disruptions in the supply chain as Vietnam has gradually controlled the COVID-19 pandemic.

Over the past time, Vietnam-US bilateral trade relations have increased by 20% annually. By 2020, bilateral trade turnover reached 90.8 billion USD, of which Vietnam exported 77.1 billion USD, up 25.7% YoY. In the first 7 months of 2021, Vietnam’s export turnover to the U.S reached 53.7 billion USD, up 37.7% YoY. The Vietnamese government has made efforts to fulfill its commitment to balance the Vietnam-U.S trade balance by encouraging imports of LNG and aircraft.

“With the vision that Vietnam will become a developed country by 2045, the Vietnamese business community also needs to go global, learn from experience, equip knowledge, and build a business culture… VCCI hopes that the U.S, as a developed and experienced country, can support Vietnam in these activities”, VCCI President said.
