VCCI and CACCI expect to build an efficient foundation for cooperation between economies

The Confederation of Asian-Pacific Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CACCI) should be encouraged to work together, since this will create prospects for robust and thorough regional integration.

Mr. Peter McMullin, Chairman of the CACCI, expressed his appreciation for the VCCI's support and cooperation during the meeting with Mr. Pham Tan Cong, Chairman of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI). Since joining CACCI in 1990, VCCI has always taken an active part in CACCI's activities. The CACCI Chairman made two trips to Vietnam, which were warmly received by the VCCI in 2011 and 2018.

The Chairman of CACCI hoped that VCCI will remain its active member in the future. Vietnam's representation in CACCI is essential to contribute to its strength and increase opportunities for business cooperation, thereby developing the economy and raising GDP, given the crucial role of its economy and enterprises in the context of the development of the Asia-Pacific region.

The 37th CACCI Conference, held in Cambodia on October 30-31, 2023, will bring together business leaders and policymakers from member nations to address contentious topics that have a direct influence on the regional economy.

Mr. McMullin also recommended that VCCI look into the idea of soon holding a CACCI conference in Vietnam, a popular business and investment destination globally. In order to increase collaboration between Vietnam and other economies in the region, member businesses of CACCI can benefit from opportunities to learn about Vietnam's economic and investment policies, market possibilities, and business climate.

The CACCI Chairman reaffirmed that CACCI would continue to offer a powerful forum for cooperation among the region's economies, which might one day assist the Vietnamese business community in gaining access to the global market through cooperation.

According to Mr. Pham Tan Cong, working with CACCI will enable Vietnamese companies to swiftly reach companies that are CACC members in the textile, agricultural, tourist, and energy industries as well as penetrate key markets.

One promising area for investment in Vietnam is renewable energy, namely in terms of technology, equipment, and green capital.

When Vietnam first began the process of international economic integration and membership in regional  institutions had not yet been extensively adopted, VCCI joined CACCI in 1990. According to Mr. Pham Tan Cong, joining CACCI had a good impact on luring investors from the region's top economies to invest in Vietnam.

The VCCI Chairman expressed his hope that the two parties would advance deeper and wider cooperation in the future and promised to continue being active members of CACCI and strengthen support for the initiatives of CACCI members in Vietnam.

The VCCI Chairman stated that this is a chance for the business community in the Asia-Pacific region to study and invest in Vietnam with the objective that Vietnam would become a developed and high-income country by 2045.

Japan was one of the six founding members of CACCI, which was founded in 1966 to create a forum for networking and collaboration among local business owners. 28 national chambers of commerce and industry, including VCCI, from 26 independent economies are currently members of CACCI. Additionally, CACCI is a participant in the Conference of NGOs run by the United Nations and has consultative status with the organization.
