VCCI President Pham Tan Cong recently hosted a meeting with Mr. Turgut Erkeskin - President of the FIATA International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA).
At the meeting, the two sides discussed solutions to promote green logistics and minimize environmental impact, including the introduction of environmentally friendly technologies and practices.
Mr. Erkeskin affirmed that FIATA, as an international agency representative of global logistics and freight forwarding associations and businesses, can support Vietnam in improving the capacity of the logistics industry to help its businesses connect with potential partners in the world, open opportunities for cooperation and development, support updating international standards, cooperate in training and provide professional certifications, and contribute to enhancing work performance and service quality.
VCCI President Pham Tan Cong affirmed that Vietnam's transportation industry has strongly developed in recent years and made important contributions to the national economy. The demand for domestic and international freight and passenger transportation keeps growing on economic development, especially in import and export.
Vietnam has been investing a lot in upgrading and expanding the transportation system, including roads, railways, seaports and airports, he added. This helps reduce transport time and improve efficiency and safety of transport operations. At the same time, the government has adopted many support policies for the development of the transportation industry, including tax and fee cuts and market entry easing. Therefore, the room for the development of Vietnam's logistics industry is huge.
Cong also underlined sustainable logistics trends that aim to reduce carbon emissions, enhance energy efficiency and minimize environmental impacts. This includes promoting the use of environmentally friendly technologies and practices that VCCI and FIATA jointly advocate.
The cooperation with FIATA will help encourage Vietnamese businesses to apply green logistics solutions and contribute to the development of a sustainable logistics industry, especially in electric vehicles and clean fuels, he noted
FIATA and VCCI can coordinate to support Vietnamese businesses to join international fairs and exhibitions, promote logistics brands, products and services to international markets.
Mr. Erkeskin shared about FIATA World Congress 2025 (FWC 2025) with VCCI leaders. This is an important annual event organized by FIATA, attracting experts, managers and stakeholders in the logistics and transportation industry from around the world.
