VCCI partners with Warwick Business School (WBS) to deliver executive leadership training for Petrolimex
Coventry, United Kingdom, June 23, 2026 — The Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), in partnership with Warwick Business School (WBS), officially launched the executive leadership program “Energy Leadership & Strategic Transformation,” designed exclusively for the Vietnam National Petroleum Group (Petrolimex). The Petrolimex delegation, led by Mr. Pham Van Thanh, Chairman of the Board of Directors, attended the opening ceremony and held working sessions with the school's leadership.
The program is led by VCCI, with the VCCI Center for Media and Economic Information serving as the focal point for implementation.
Warwick Business School, part of the University of Warwick (established in 1967), is based in Coventry and operates an executive education campus at The Shard in London. In 2000, WBS became the first business school in the United Kingdom to achieve the prestigious “Triple Crown” accreditation (AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA), a distinction held by fewer than 1% of business schools worldwide. The School is renowned for its MBA programs, executive education and research excellence, with its Online MBA consistently ranked among the world’s best by the Financial Times.
The program is designed to equip 20 senior Petrolimex executives with strategic thinking capabilities, modern management tools and internationally recognized leadership competencies, enabling the Group to adapt to the energy transition and an increasingly competitive business environment. The initiative also contributes to implementing the objective set out in Politburo Resolution No. 79-NQ/TW, which aims for 100% of state-owned enterprises to meet OECD leadership standards.
Representing WBS at the meeting were Mr. Gareth Bennett, Chief Operating Officer; Ms. Camilla Jonsson, Director of Executive Education; Mr. Simon Bason, Client Director; and Mr. Oliver Campton, Programme Development Manager. Representing Petrolimex were Mr. Pham Van Thanh, Chairman of the Board of Directors, and Mr. Tran Tuan Linh, Member of the Board of Directors. Representing VCCI was Mr. Pham Thai Lai, Director of the VCCI Center for Media and Economic Information.
During the discussions, the parties agreed on three key areas of cooperation: (1) a long-term leadership development strategy covering curriculum design, faculty resources, delivery methods and evaluation mechanisms; (2) a roadmap for standardizing governance and leadership competencies in line with OECD criteria for Petrolimex’s senior management and, more broadly, for the Vietnamese business community during the 2025–2030 period; and (3) the establishment of an academic and research cooperation platform focusing on corporate governance, energy transition, ESG and risk management.
The program marks the beginning of a long-term training and research partnership between Petrolimex and one of Europe’s leading business schools, facilitated by VCCI. It also demonstrates VCCI’s role in supporting the business community in strengthening governance and leadership capabilities in accordance with international standards.
