Sustainable business has become an inevitable trend, and corporate sustainable development strategies must be built on the Economic, Environmental, Social and Governance (EESG) pillars, VCCI President Pham Tan Cong emphasized.

Those that have adopted responsible business prove to be more resilient against challenges and can readily seize opportunities that the economy offers.

“The values ​​of sustainable business need to be shaped and built based on a core value system of entrepreneurs and businesses. That is business ethics and business culture,” he added.

In the context of global integration and competition, ethical requirements in production and business, consumer protection, environmental protection, green economy, and circular economy are being promoted, and they become new standards to enter markets, especially those in developed countries.

Delivering a keynote address, Mr. Nguyen Hong Son, Deputy Head of the Central Economic Commission emphasized that the development of enterprises is also the prosperity of the country. At the national and local levels, it is necessary to continue to improve the legal framework, improve national and local governance capacity, improve the business environment, promote public-private partnerships, and strengthen international cooperation to create all favorable conditions and resources for sustainable development.

At the corporate level, it is necessary to renew the mindset, ensure business integrity, enhance competitiveness, increase corporate values through sustainable business governance practices, promote inclusive business, pursue the green economic model and the circular economy, and apply VCCI’s Corporate Sustainability Index (CSI).
