Vietnam, Australia Promote Business Ties in New Context

Addressing VCCI President Pham Tan Cong, Ambassador Robyn Mudie said, in 2018, the two countries upgraded their relation to the strategic partnership. In particular, when Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison visited Vietnam in 2019, the two countries agreed to develop an Enhanced Economic Engagement Strategy with the goal of becoming top ten trade partners and doubling investment.

 Therefore, in the past years, the Embassy has always worked closely with VCCI, and related ministries toward that goal, and closely coordinated with VCCI to organize events such as Vietnamese Business Forums (VBF), or in international economic integration support activities.

According to the Australian Ambassador, the Australia-Vietnam Enhanced Economic Engagement Strategy (EEES) was approved on October 8, 2021, with a focus on key sectors of current and future economic importance to both nations. The Ambassador hoped the content of the strategy will be officially ratified by the two governments soon. This will be a positive signal for promoting the development of the two countries in the context of the complicated COVID-19 pandemic.

Ambassador Robyn Mudie affirmed an important role in strengthening dialogue between the private sectors of the two countries. If businesses work together, understand each other, and understand the legal environment, they will contribute to the development of the economies.

Ambassador Robyn Mudie expected that VCCI would continue to work closely with the Embassy in the coming time to promote the general development goals of the two countries.

VCCI President Pham Tan Cong appreciated the Embassy’s support to VCCI in projects and programs such as Aus4Reform projects and responsible business practice. He affirmed that VCCI attached great importance to the relationship with the Australian Embassy and hoped that VCCI would continue to receive the support of the Embassy in the coming time.
