Speaking at the meeting, Adham Omar praised Vietnam’s development momentum and its target of achieving double-digit growth. Egypt-Vietnam relations have also made encouraging progress in recent years. Key developments included former President Luong Cuong’s visit to Egypt and talks between Vietnamese Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung and Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty in February 2026, during which both sides agreed to strengthen economic cooperation through closer connectivity and greater supply chain integration.
According to Adham Omar, as Vietnam accelerates the development of high-value-added industries and diversifies its supply sources, Egypt can become a supply partner in cotton, industrial fabrics, aluminum, pharmaceuticals, and construction materials. Egypt also hopes Vietnam will expand its participation in the country’s domestic supply chain.
Vietnamese businesses have already begun establishing a presence in Egypt. According to Adham Omar, European Plastic Company (Europlas) and Song Hong Corporation have been among the early entrants in fabric manufacturing and industrial materials, benefiting from Egypt’s cotton supply and existing factory infrastructure. More recently, FPT Corporation has also expanded its presence in the market through technology and telecommunications.
In terms of cooperation mechanisms, both sides already have important institutional platforms in place, including the Vietnam-Egypt Joint Committee. The next session has been proposed for El Alamein in July or August this year. In addition, a meeting of the Sub-Committee on Trade and Industry has been proposed in Hanoi this June, with an online format available if needed.
Beyond the existing mechanisms, Adham Omar also proposed expanding sector-based connections and organizing dedicated business meetings in pharmaceuticals, plastics, and textiles to create direct opportunities for companies from both sides to explore cooperation, investment, and supply chain integration.
VCCI Secretary General Tran Thi Lan Anh said Egypt’s proposals are in line with VCCI’s new direction, which is shifting the focus from delegation exchanges to practical support for private-sector businesses seeking deeper participation in global supply chains. With more than 200,000 members, VCCI can connect businesses from both countries based on industry and specific market needs.
Adham Omar added that Egypt can serve as a gateway for Vietnamese businesses entering the African market through the African Continental Free Trade Area, while also offering broader access to the Middle East, North Africa, and Europe. He said the Egyptian side would send VCCI a proposal outlining priority areas for cooperation. Both sides are also expected to organize online business networking meetings by sector, followed by delegation exchanges and the implementation of targeted cooperation initiatives.
