On November 10, Asia-Pacific business leaders met at the virtual gathering of the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC). Mr. Pham Tan Cong, President of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), and members and the Secretariat attended the event.

In particular, at the meeting, it was announced that VCCI President Pham Tan Cong was officially appointed by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh as the Chairman of ABAC Vietnam. VCCI President Pham Tan Cong will accompany State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc to attend the APEC Leaders' Dialogue with the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC).

During the meeting, business leaders affirmed that a people-centric approach to the Asia-Pacific agenda was needed to overcome today's economic challenges.

“The challenges we face today, whether it's post-pandemic recovery, trade, climate change or inequality. Prosperity and peace for all can only be achieved when all economies work together,” said ABAC Chair Rachel Taulelei.

Ms. Rachel Taulelei further noted that the ABAC Annual Report with the theme 'People, Place and Prosperity' will serve as an important highlight in ABAC's Annual Dialogue with Leaders APEC scheduled for November 12.

“The annual dialogue with APEC leaders is a valuable opportunity to discuss directly with the leaders of the economies about the recommendations in the ABAC report," Ms. Taulelei emphasized. In the post-pandemic economic recovery, ABAC made clear that vaccination is the key to overcoming the health crisis and allowing countries to safely and seamlessly reopen their economies.
