Codes and names of ports to standardised across country
The General Department of Vietnam Customs (GDVC) has requested the Customs IT and Statistics Department to review and standardise the list of codes and names of ports nationwide to ensure that each port have only one code according to the UN LOCODE code list posted on its website at www.customs.gov.vn.

Photo: Ngoc Linh The GDVC has also directed the Customs IT and Statistics Department to provide solutions to pilot the integrated software of data of import and export goods transported via sea as proposed by Hai Phong Customs Department. After the review, the list of ports’ codes and names will be used uniformly in different systems. The Customs IT and Statistics Department must announce the list and complete function or instruct enterprises to develop e-declaration software to ensure that shipping lines, shipping agents/logistics firms, customs declarant and seaport operators will declare in line with the list. Regarding the function of making receipt of transferring port on the E-manifest system, the top authority required the department to add the function to allow customs and seaport operators at destination ports to receive and handle customs dossiers for means of transport on the exit and entry at ports under the same management department. In addition, the GDVC has asked for proposals related to display of the get in-get out information on the VASSCM for transshipped containers on entry when they are approved to shift to exit, and other contents related to empty containers get in - get out eligible for import and export declarations. |
