FIATA World Congress 2025: Vietnam to build new logistics development strategy
Vietnam is finalizing the new National Logistics Development Strategy, which includes eight major focuses to create a solid legal foundation, infrastructure, and resources to help logistics become an important service industry in the process of deep integration into the global supply chain, according to Mr. Tran Thanh Hai, Deputy Director General of the Import-Export Department, Ministry of Industry and Trade, who spoke during the discussion panel.

The topic of "Restructuring global trade: Challenges and new adaptation strategies" was covered by experts and government representatives from numerous nations at the FIATA World Congress 2025. This discussion panel was held in light of the world's geopolitical crises, shifting tariff policies, and growing complexity in international trade.
Mr. Hai says that improving the legal framework is of utmost importance in order to provide a transparent and advantageous environment for logistics companies to grow and get over the current rules' flaws. One of the main strategies to increase the capacity for international connection is the development of contemporary logistics infrastructure, particularly two sizable logistics hubs in the Southern area.
Additionally, as the majority of domestic logistics companies are now small-scale and mostly operate domestically, the approach seeks to increase their competitiveness.
Mr. Hai underlined, "We want to encourage companies to reach out to global markets, look for new partners, and take advantage of opportunities in the global supply chain."
Another important pillar is the development of high-quality human resources to meet the requirements of digital transformation and green logistics. Vietnam will focus on training a workforce with international skills and qualifications and the ability to quickly adapt to new trends.
For purposes of creating a coherent logistics community that aids in service growth, groups like the Vietnam Logistics Services Association (VLA) will be encouraged more actively.
The new plan also intends to establish free trade zones, which are a relatively new concept in Vietnam, to encourage the development of high-value logistics services and draw in investment.
"Vietnam is also promoting the exploitation of the East-West economic corridor, connecting the Central region with Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar, turning this area into a 'springboard' for growth and expanding connections in the regional logistics network," said Hai.
Mr. Tran Thanh Hai reiterated, with the new strategy, Vietnam wishes to become a more attractive destination for international investors, while improving domestic logistics capacity to keep up with the new globalization trend.
