Lonely Planet names Da Nang among the 7 best solo travel destinations in Southeast Asia

Recently, Lonely Planet - one of the world's leading travel guides, has named Da Nang as one of the seven best destinations in Southeast Asia for solo travelers.

In the list “7 of the best places in Southeast Asia for solo travelers”, published by the world-renowned travel guide Lonely Planet on March 18, Da Nang and Hanoi were the only two Vietnamese destinations to be featured.

Whether you're new to solo travel or a seasoned explorer, the destinations featured on this list cater to every key criterion solo travelers seek - from affordability and safety to diverse cuisine and convenient transportation. Here, visitors can easily find budget-friendly single rooms at local accommodations while enjoying countless opportunities to meet and connect with fellow travelers. "It’s fantastic to spend your days snacking at hawker centers in Singapore, relaxing beach-side in Danang or climbing Mount Batur in Bali”, Lonely Planet describes.

According to ASA Luxury, a leading travel media company based in London, solo travel is set to be the top trend of 2025. Hilton’s annual trend report, based on a survey of 13,000 travelers across 13 countries, revealed that nearly 50% of respondents frequently travel alone. Notably, research from travel market analytics firm Future Partners indicates that nearly 40% of women plan to embark on solo trips in 2025.

The Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF 2025) is one of the city's most anticipated annual events, drawing visitors to Da Nang every summer.

Dubbed the “tourism capital of Central Viet Nam”, Da Nang continues to captivate travelers with its seamless blend of culture, history, and natural beauty. Ranked third on the list, Lonely Planet hails Da Nang as the best destination for an idyllic coastal escape and gateway to varied experiences. Notably, from April to August, the city enters its most beautiful season, boasting golden sunshine, crystal-clear waters, and perfect weather - setting the stage for an unforgettable journey.

In a reel showcasing the destinations on this list, posted on Lonely Planet’s Instagram, the Golden Bridge and Sun World Ba Na Hills were featured as iconic representations of tourism in Da Nang.

Home to six world-record cable car routes, Sun World Ba Na Hills stands as a symbol of tourism in both Da Nang and Viet Nam. Its most iconic attraction, the Golden Bridge, appears to float amidst the clouds, along with the French village recreating a romantic European space. Beyond its breathtaking scenery, Sun KraftBeer is an unmissable experience. Brewed right atop Ba Na Hills using an authentic Bavarian recipe, this craft beer offers a rich, smooth taste - perfect for those who embrace adventure and freedom. Sipping a cold beer amidst the stunning mountain landscape is the perfect way to complete your Ba Na Hills journey.

For nature lovers, Son Tra Peninsula is a pristine green paradise offering fresh air and breathtaking landscapes. Meanwhile, My Khe Beach - once named one of the world’s most beautiful beaches by Forbes, is the perfect spot to unwind, soak in the crystal-clear waters, or take part in thrilling beach sports.

Da Nang set to delight visitors with a series of exciting experiences on March 29.

Da Nang also serves as a gateway to Central Viet Nam’s heritage journey, connecting travelers to Hue and Hoi An. Beyond its natural beauty, solo travelers will find countless opportunities to engage with locals, hear captivating stories of culture and history, and immerse themselves in the region’s distinctive rhythm of life. These authentic and unforgettable experiences make Da Nang a destination unlike any other.
