Party General Secretary and State President To Lam and his spouse, along with Vietnam’s high-level delegation, will pay an official visit to Thailand from May 27-29, 2026.

At the invitation of the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand, Anutin Charnvirakul, and his spouse, the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, To Lam, and his spouse, along with Vietnam's high-level delegation, will pay an official visit to Thailand from May 27-29, 2026.

2026 marks a special milestone in Vietnam-Thailand relations as the two countries celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations. The comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries has developed positively.

In terms of trade, Thailand is currently Vietnam's largest trading partner in ASEAN. By 2025, total bilateral trade is projected to reach US$22.1 billion, a 9% increase compared to 2024, of which Vietnam's exports will reach US$8.8 billion, a 12.7% increase, and imports will reach US$13.3 billion, a 6.7% increase.

In the first four months of 2026, total bilateral trade reached nearly US$8.6 billion, a 24% increase compared to the same period in 2025, of which Vietnam exported US$3.76 billion, up 39%, and imported nearly US$4.84 billion, up 15%.

In terms of investment, Thailand currently has 797 active investment projects in Vietnam with a total registered capital of US$15.4 billion, ranking 8th out of 153 countries investing in Vietnam and 2nd among ASEAN countries investing in Vietnam.

Vietnam has approximately over 20 active investment projects in Thailand with a total registered capital of around US$40 million.

Cooperation in tourism, culture, and people-to-people exchanges is developing well. In 2025, more than 660,300 Vietnamese tourists visited Thailand (ranking 17th) and nearly 458,000 Thai tourists visited Vietnam (ranking 11th).

Thailand is promoting the "Six Countries, One Destination" tourism cooperation initiative. Currently, 20 provinces and cities in Vietnam have signed cooperation agreements with localities in Thailand.

There are approximately over 100,000 Vietnamese expatriates in Thailand, and around 2,000-3,000 Vietnamese students are studying and conducting research there.
