Vietnamese and Estonian businesses promote digital technology cooperation
The combination of Estonian businesses' technological strengths with Vietnam's market potential has opened up big opportunities for bilateral cooperation.
VCCI Vice President Nguyen Quang Vinh speaks at the working session with the Estonian business delegation.
Mr. Nguyen Quang Vinh, Vice President of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), said that Estonia has long been recognized by the world as a pioneer in building a digital government and digital society. “With 99% of online public services over 15 years, Estonia is not only a partner but also a great source of inspiration for rapidly transforming countries like Vietnam”, VCCI Vice President said.
Vietnam's vision for 2030 goes beyond digitalization to encompass a close integration of digital and green transformation. Vietnam is focusing its efforts on achieving net zero emissions by 2050. In particular, the period of 2025-2026 marks a crucial milestone as the Power Development Plan VIII is vigorously implemented, prioritizing the attraction of renewable energy projects and green financing solutions.
VCCI Vice President emphasized that this is precisely the sector where Estonian businesses can maximize their advantages. With their strengths in smart grid management, digital emission and circular economy, Estonian businesses are expected to work together with Vietnam to create a sustainable future.
Specifically, VCCI Vice Chairman Nguyen Quang Vinh pointed out three key sectors of cooperation, including: Cybersecurity; Smart City Solutions and Blockchain.
In addition, Vietnam is also prioritizing attracting projects for renewable energy, waste treatment, and green finance. "This is the ideal stage for Estonian businesses to bring their unique technologies to help us build the future," VCCI Vice President added.
More importantly, VCCI is always ready to act as a direct channel to convey all recommendations and removing all policy barriers, ensuring that the business environment in Vietnam remains a favorable place for Estonian investors.
Estonian Ambassador to Vietnam Hannes Hanso affirmed that Vietnam-Estonia bilateral relations have developed strongly, demonstrating a shared commitment to deepening cooperation in advanced technology sectors. At the same time, the complementarity between the two economies is key to creating sustainable value. If Vietnam is a strategic gateway for Estonia to enter the ASEAN market, then Estonia is the "digital door" that helps Vietnamese businesses access the promising European and Baltic markets.
Estonian Ambassador Hannes Hanso speaks at the meeting.
"Fostering high technology cooperation is not only a business activity, but also a new door to the future. We are committed to promoting deeper exchanges on digital innovation, thereby building a strong bridge for the business communities of both sides to develop together and create positive impacts," the Estonian Ambassador emphasized.
Currently, Vietnam-Estonia bilateral trade turnover is no longer at the modest figure of USD 10 million as in 2010. By 2025, this figure has grown sustainably to over USD 80 million thanks to the effective utilization of free trade agreements, bringing Vietnam's key products closer to the Nordic market.
Vietnam mainly exports seafood, fruits and vegetables, cashew nuts, coffee, plastic products, wood products, and textiles to Estonia; and imports dairy products, chemicals, rubber, wood and wood products from Estonia.
