Que Vo Town: A Modern, Civilized Urban Hub

In recent years, Que Vo Town (Bac Ninh Province) has made remarkable strides in transforming itself into a modern, dynamic, and civilized urban center.

Traditional craft villages have modernized production techniques, expanded their markets, and improved product branding and competitiveness.

Under the leadership of the Bac Ninh Provincial Party Committee and with strong community and enterprise support, Que Vo Town has implemented comprehensive, innovative strategies that have driven breakthroughs across all sectors.

A Town in Transformation

Chairman of the Que Vo Town People’s Committee, Đặng Văn Tuấn, emphasizes that the town's transformation is built on unity, resilience, and strategic planning. Economic growth has accelerated, particularly in industry and services, while agriculture has moved toward high-tech models. Traditional craft villages have modernized production techniques, expanded their markets, and improved product branding and competitiveness.

Infrastructure development has been a priority, with investments focusing on modern, eco-friendly systems. Que Vo is advancing smart city solutions, expanding its transportation and IT networks, and accelerating digital transformation. Administrative reforms have improved transparency and created a favorable business environment, enhancing the province’s competitiveness.

In 2024, local authorities conducted over 600 inspections on construction, ensured compliance across 30 public projects, and managed compensation plans for major infrastructure works like Ring Road 4, Que Vo Industrial Parks 2 and 3, and urban service areas in Ngọc Xá. Street naming and house numbering campaigns have been carried out across nine roads and nearly 6,000 households, lifting the urbanization rate to 62.5%.

These efforts have significantly improved the town’s urban appearance and civic consciousness, aligning with the vision of building a progressive, integrated Que Vo.

An Investment Hotspot

Strategically located in southeastern Bac Ninh province, Que Vo town serves as a vital link to major economic zones. It is now one of the province’s top destinations for industrial investment, anchored by five large-scale industrial parks with modern infrastructure that attract hundreds of enterprises.

A key focus is green industrial development, with particular attention to environmental sustainability and the growth of logistics services. A standout initiative is the Tân Cảng Quế Võ inland container depot (ICD), one of only 14 such dry ports in the country. This facility reduces transport costs by up to 30% and emissions by up to 75%, while easing traffic congestion on regional roads.

By 2025, the port aims to handle over 522,000 TEUs and generate VND 660 billion in revenue. Plans are underway to expand the port by 100 hectares to attract more investors and boost logistics capacity.

A critical infrastructure focus is the Ring Road 4 project, which will enhance regional connectivity. Que Vo authorities have prioritized land clearance and compensation for affected households, especially in Chi Lăng commune, where 32 families are impacted by a 304,784 m² section of the project. While some households have agreed to resettle, others are negotiating fair compensation.

At a recent dialogue, town leaders addressed residents’ concerns over land valuation, resettlement fairness, and access to utilities. Que Vo Town Party Committee Secretary Phạm Thanh Hải assured residents that all compensation policies comply with regulations and that authorities are maximizing support to ensure fairness and stability for affected families. By April 20, local authorities aim to finalize land compensation and resettlement arrangements, including issuing land use certificates and infrastructure access.

In 2025, the town will manage 38 major projects, including two new starts and several ongoing or completed works awaiting finalization.

Comprehensive Capital Investment

Infrastructure upgrades continue to be a cornerstone of Que Vo's development strategy. Nguyễn Tiến Thắng, Director of the Town Project Management Board, reported that all 14 key construction projects from late 2023 and early 2024 have been completed. In 2025, the town will manage 38 major projects, including two new starts and several ongoing or completed works awaiting finalization.

Due to administrative restructuring into a two-tier local government model, project implementation will be coordinated across the newly merged communes and wards once the new system is operational.

Alongside physical development, Que Vo is reforming its governance structure, streamlining administrative bodies to increase efficiency and public service quality. With bold thinking and a spirit of innovation, Que Vo is asserting itself as a modern industrial-service urban center ready to embrace a new era.

As the nation transitions to a two-tier government framework, Que Vo is poised to evolve further—adapting its operations, name, and identity to align with the country’s broader modernization efforts. Guided by a vision of innovation and sustainable growth, Que Vo is set to remain a key driver of Bắc Ninh's economic success.
